City of Hattiesburg Hosts a Parade of Champions
Hattiesburg, MS - City of Hattiesburg is hosted a Parade of Champions on Monday, May 8. Parade celebrated local athletes and academic scholars from area schools and universities. Parade started at Sacred Heart High School with recognition of participants at City Hall. Check out the City of Hattiesburg's Facebook Live video of the parade. Execellence in Academics:
Valedictorian, Sarah Gallardo, serves as Student Body Secretary, President of Mu Alpha Theta and is a member of the Beta Club and National Honor Society. Sarah plays softball & volleyball and has been named to the All-State Volleyball Team. She served as President of Junior Auxiliary Crown Club, received the Gold Award for Girl's Scouts, and completed more than 300 service hours for TRIAD Americorps. Sarah was also a State Finalist in the United States Senate Youth Program for Mississippi. She will graduate with special honors and plans to attend Wake Forest University studying biology with plans to become a physical therapist.
Salutatorian, Bianca Fernandez, is a Mississippi Scholar and a member of the Beta Club and National Honor Society. Bianca has served as a Student Council Class Representative and volunteers as a math tutor. Her high school clubs and activities include Book Club, Environmental Club, Mock Trial, Crusader Champions, and the Campus Ministry Team. Bianca is a member of the Hattiesburg Mayor's Youth Council and is a youth member of Eagle Catholic. She is graduating with Special Honors with plans to attend Mississippi State University majoring in architecture.
National Merit Finalist, Beau Hinton, is a 4-year member of the prestigious State Championship Mock Trial Team and represented Sacred Heart at the Mississippi STAR Student Program in Jackson. Beau scored a 35 on the ACT which placed him in the top 75 out of 280 STAR Students. He is a member of the Sacred Heart Drum Line; Powerlifting, Golf and Cross Country teams; and Mu Alpha Theta. Beau is graduating with Special Honors and will attend The University of Alabama majoring in finance where is has earned a full-ride Presidential Merit Scholarship.

Sacred Heart Mock Trial
Sacred Heart is proud of the numerous State Championships earned by its Mock Trial teams over the years. Under the leadership of Don Hinton, the 2023 Mock Trial Team brought home the 11th consecutive State Championship Title to Sacred Heart Catholic School. Sacred Heart Mock Trial has 14 State titles in the last 15 years. Team members include Natalie Davis, Tanner Davis, Beau Hinton, Courtney Maury, Ari Freeman, Maura McLaughlin, Marion Reese, Eli Shemper, and Hanna Zermeno.

Sacred Heart Tennis
Sacred Heart Tennis recently brought home the 2023 MHSAA State Championship, coached by Juan Pinilla “JP” Pulido. This is the 4th consecutive Tennis State Championship for Sacred Heart. Senior, Clare Conlif, has signed a letter of intent to play college tennis at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in fall 2023.
Sacred Heart Girls Individual Powerlifting
Sacred Heart is proud of two Individual State Champions in their weight class for powerlifting. Corley Duckworth is in the eighth grade at Sacred Heart, and Maura McLaughlin is graduating. Maura will attend Louisiana State University. Maura was 2022 Forrest County’s Distinguished Young Woman and a member of the Sacred Heart Mock Trial Team. Sacred Heart Boys’ and Girls’ Powerlifting teams are led by Coach Lonny Schraeder.
Sacred Heart Girls Golf
Sacred Heart congratulates senior, Evie Sisk, with her third consecutive State Gold Championship. Evie is the first female in Mississippi to receive this honor. She has also signed to play Women’s Golf at Loyola University in New Orleans.

Sacred Heart freshman, Rick Conville, was a State Swimming Finalist in fall 2022. He competed in the 200 individual medley and the 100 Butterfly.
2022-2023 South State Champions
Sacred Heart Volleyball
Under the coaching of Kerry Geroux, the 2022-2023 Crusader Volleyball team won back-to-back South State Championships with MHSAA.
Sacred Heart Boys Soccer
Sacred Heart has an award-winning soccer program at the high school. The 2022-2023 Boys’ Soccer team won South State with MHSAA. This is the eighth South State title for the program with four State titles. They were led by Coach Romar Smith, and senior, Zach Rhynehardt, signed his letter of intent to play soccer at Southwest Mississippi Community College.
2022-2023 Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) Champions
Sacred Heart is proud to recognize three championship teams from the Elementary. The 2nd Grade had two team victories in their Catholic Youth Organization Athletics. 2nd Grade Flag Football team received their Championship title under the coaching of David Perez, and 2nd Grade Basketball received their Championship title under the coaching of Elementary Teacher, Noelle Bounds. The 4th Grade Flag Football team were also Bowl Winners and coached by Tim Weyenberg, Richard Jones, and Scott Martin.
