Class of 2023

Hattiesburg, MS – Sacred Heart Catholic School is proud to announce the graduation of the senior class of 2023. This year's graduates have demonstrated exceptional dedication to their studies, and we are confident that they will make a positive impact on the world.

Out of 50 graduating seniors, Sacred Heart Catholic School has 43 Mississippi Scholars and six Mississippi Eminent Scholars. This class received over two million in scholarship offers from colleges and universities around the country. Students are attending Wake Forest University, University of Alabama, Louisiana State University, University of Florida, Elon University, Loyola University, Tuskegee University, University of Southern California, and Mississippi universities and junior colleges.

 

Academic Spotlights:

  • 2023 Valedictorian is Sarah Gallardo. She serves as Student Body Secretary, President of Mu Alpha Theta and is a member of the Beta Club and National Honor Society. Sarah plays softball & volleyball and has been named to the All-State Volleyball Team. She served as President of Junior Auxiliary Crown Club, received the Gold Award for Girl's Scouts, and completed more than 300 service hours for TRIAD Americorps. Sarah was also a State Finalist in the United States Senate Youth Program for Mississippi. She will graduate with special honors and plans to attend Wake Forest University studying biology with plans to become a physical therapist.  

  • 2023 Salutatorian is Bianca Fernandez. She is a Mississippi Scholar and a member of the Beta Club and National Honor Society. Bianca has served as a Student Council Class Representative and volunteers as a math tutor. Her high school clubs and activities include Book Club, Environmental Club, Mock Trial, Crusader Champions and the Campus Ministry Team. Bianca is a member of the Hattiesburg Mayor's Youth Council and is a youth member of Eagle Catholic. She is graduating with Special Honors with plans to attend Mississippi State University majoring in architecture.  

  • Sacred Heart’s 2023 STAR Student and National Merit Finalist is Beau Hinton. Hinton was a 4-year member of the prestigious State Championship Mock Trial Team and scored a 35 on the ACT. This score placed him in the top 75 out of 280 STAR Students in the state. He will attend The University of Alabama majoring in finance where is earned a full-ride Presidential Merit Scholarship.

  • Special Honors: Samantha Alliston, Klaire Bennett, Charlize Cledera, Conner Davis, Natalie Davis, Tanner Davis, Ameze Ekunwe, Bianca Fernandez, Sarah Gallardo, Beau Hinton, Lela Knight, Landon Le, Courtney Maury, Henry Mulloy, Reese Sullivan, Hanny Zermeno

  • Honors: Rylee Blackledge, Andie Brewer, Karrington Commodore, Harper Doggett, Sophia Hodges, Will McClain, Matthew Patrolia, Philip Patrolia, Christian Rivers, Jill Underwood, Bella Van Slyke

 

The Class of 2023 has excelled outside of the classroom. Five graduates will be continuing their talents at the collegiate level:

  • Loyola University: Evie Sisks playing Women’s Golf;

  • Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College: Sophie Bell playing Women’s Soccer and Clare Conliff playing Women’s Tennis;

  • Southwest Mississippi Community College: Zach Rhynehardt playing Men’s Soccer; and

  • The University of Southern Mississippi: Anne Kathryn Bullock as a member of the Dixie Darlings.

These students have persevered and achieved their academic goals as well as upheld the Sacred Heart Way of faith, respect, and honor. Sacred Heart Catholic Schools wishes them all the best as they embark on the next chapter of their lives and look forward to their future successes. Congratulations to the Sacred Heart graduating seniors of 2023.
