Batson Named National Merit Commended Student

COMMENDED STUDENT IN THE 2022 NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Keith Brackett, high school principal at Sacred Heart Catholic School, announced Caroline Batson as a Commended Student in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program. The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) recognizes around 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation for their exceptional academic promise. 

Sacred Heart Catholic School desires to develop the whole student through its teachings and extra-curricular opportunities. “National Merit Scholars represent the best of the best,” said Kimberly Pittman, school counselor at Sacred Heart. “ Caroline is an exceptional student who exemplifies our school motto of faith, respect, and honor.” Batson is a member of Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, Environmental Club, Beta Club, Media Club, Crusader Champion and Spirit Girl. 

“Caroline is at the epicenter of all of the clockwork at Sacred Heart; she is an organizer, communicator, and a supporter from student leadership to athletics to extracurriculars,” said Betsy McIntire, faculty in literature and composition. “She is a formidable student with a disciplined and insightful mind and always has a can-do attitude.” 

Batson serves the Sacred Heart community and propels the school forward. She is the Student Body President and leader on the varsity swim and tennis teams.“I am extremely grateful to my parents, the Sacred Heart teachers and staff, and my peers for challenging me and helping me be my best self.”
