Elementary School Dress Code

 

Girls – Preschool through 6th Grade

 

Shirts:   White button front with round collar, free of all trim – no lace. Girls must also have a white knit shirt (polo style) with the SHS emblem in navy blue. Shirt may be short or long-sleeved. Shirt must always be tucked in. White knit shirt is worn with plaid shorts or skort (4th-6th grades)  not jumper. White button front shirt may be worn with plaid jumper (PreK-3rd grades), shorts or skort (4th – 6th grades). No turtle neck shirts under uniform shirts please. Can be purchased through B’s Uniforms or Lands’ End.

 

Shorts:  Plaid walking shorts worn with white rounded-collar shirt or white knit shirt. Shorts cannot be more than 4 inches above the knee when kneeling. Must be purchased through B’s Uniforms.

 

Socks:   White socks with no trim or designs. May wear navy tights or knee socks with jumper (PreK-3rd grades), shorts or skorts (4th – 6th grades) when cold outside.

 

Slacks:   Must be a uniform navy blue pant. No Capri pants, no flares, no bell-bottoms.

 

Shoes: TENNIS SHOES ONLY WITH RUBBER SOLES. No boots. No sandals. No blinking shoes. No backless shoes. No toeless shoes. No Birkenstocks. No leather shoes. No Crocs. No Mary Jane shoes.

 

Sweatshirts: Red or navy sweatshirt. No decoration or trim except the SHS emblem. Only sweatshirts with emblem allowed. SHS emblem must be WHITE. No other sweatshirts or jacket allowed to be worn in the classroom. Can be purchased through B’s Uniforms or Lands’ End.

 

Hair:       Must be combed and clean each day for school. Pony tails/pig tails must be limited to two(2) without multiple accessories. No corn rows, no multiple braids (no more than two).

 

Other:   No dangling earrings. Posts only. Only one(1) earring in each earlobe.

                Hair ornaments must match uniform colors (solid red, white, navy or plaid)

                If necklaces are warn, must have a religious medal or cross on a chain. No chokers.

                If wanting to wear a ring, only one allowed.

                No bracelets except those sold by the school office.

                No sweatpants under the uniform.

                Fingernail polish is allowed but only in clear. No artificial nails.

                No makeup.

                No tattoos. No hair extremes (i.e. extreme hair coloring, multiple braids, hair wraps, hair extensions, hair beads.)

                No long-sleeved shirt or turtle necks under short-sleeved shirts.

Must wear a belt with long or short pants if there are belt loops. The belt must be a solid color of black or brown.

Preschool through 3rd grade (plaid jumpers and shorts only) – Plaid jumper from B’s Uniform shop (worn with shirt that is white button front and rounded collar). Must wear navy or black shorts under the jumper that do not show. The jumper is worn on Mass days. The plaid walking shorts are listed above and can be worn any day other than a Mass day.

 

Grades 4th to 6th (plaid shorts and skorts only) – Plaid skorts from B’s Uniforms worn with a white rounded collared shirt or white knit shirt. The skort is worn on Mass days. The plaid walking shorts are listed above and can be worn any day other than a Mass day.

 

 

 

Boys – Preschool through 6th grade

 

Shirts:   WHITE knit shirts (polo style), short or long-sleeved with SHS emblem in navy blue required on the knit shirt.

 

Pants:   Navy blue uniform slacks – no trim or decoration. No holes in knees. No baggy pant, painter paints, hip huggers or multiple pockets on legs. No jeans or corduroys.

 

Shorts:  Navy blue uniform walking shorts. Must be right above knee in length. No gym shorts.

 

Belt:       Plain navy, brown or black solid colored belt. If pants or shorts have belt loops, student must wear a belt.

 

Socks:   White with no trim or designs.

Hair:       Must be combed and clean for each school day. Hair cannot touch the back of the collar of hang in the eyes. Hair must be cut around ears and eyebrows showing! Hair must not be longer than one finger width above eyebrows (adult’s finger!). No “shaggy” hair styles. Mr. McCrory and Mrs. Flanagan will be the judges of hair infractions.

 

Other:   One wrist watch. No bracelets other than those sold by the school office. No chokers.

                No jewelry except religious medals or a cross on a chain.

                No hair extremes. No tattoos. No pierced earrings.

Out-of-Uniform Days (Pre K to 6th grade)

 

This year, students may come out of uniform with a pass only, unless there is a school-wide special occasion announced by the principal. If the student does not have a pass, the student must come to school in his/her regular uniform. Breaking the rules will result in loss of privileges of future out-of-uniform opportunities. Below lists the restriction for out-of-uniform dress code.

 

-          No spaghetti straps

-          No mid-riffs showing

-          No hats

-          No flip-flop shoes

-          No holes in pants or torn clothes

-          No tank-top shirts

-          No t-shirts with vulgarities, drug, alcohol or tobacco references.

-          If a student has physical education on an out-of-uniform day, that student must have athletic shoes in which to change for P.E.

-          Crocks only if the back strap is used. All shoes must have back straps (no slide-ins).
